Saint Amans Gin Barn Makeover! Renovate, recycle, reuse/Restore, recycle, repurpose.
Summer in the Southwest has arrived, and our big summer project is restoring the Saint Amans Gin barn. The timing is good: Saint Amans Gin is still waiting for you on the shelves, and our online sales to our French, Dutch, German, and British customers continue to grow. That said, we know, especially in bars and restaurants, that it will take time to return to the high levels of activity we saw before the lockdown. But rest assured, there will be no shortage of stock, as we have reserves that allow us to supply aficionados!
Imagine that in the past, the Saint Amans Gin barn was used to house cows in the stable on one side and to stock up on hay, food, and farm equipment on the other. At nearly 200 years old, it boasts both traditional and unique architecture, with oak beams supporting an umbrella-shaped roof structure. Expert renovation craftsmen will ensure that this true heritage is protected: the beams preserved, the roof tiles removed one by one and replaced after restoration. Always renovating, recycling, reusing. Here's the progress of the project to date.
We look forward to the day when we can house all the gin equipment there again, not to mention the equipment to tend to the radiant garden at Saint Amans. What a job!
Summer in SW France is definitely here. And our big summer project is to re-roof and restore the Saint Amans Gin Barn. Timing is right: our original and rosé Saint Amans Gin is back out there on the shelves and in bars and restaurants as lockdown lifts. Online orders from our lovely French, UK, Dutch & German gin lovers continue to grow. We know however that things will take time, especially in bars/restaurants, to get back to the activity levels of before. Dont worry however - we have plenty of gin in stock for all our aficionados! The Saint Amans Gin Barn was originally built around 200 years ago and was used to house cattle on one side and stock hay, foodstuffs and farm equipment on the other. The old umbrella shaped wooden oak beams in the interior are a true feat of engineering. So our fantastic artisan building team are treating and preserving them, sealing and insulating the roof, and then putting back the original roof tiles to keep the harmony in the look and feel of the original barn. Renovate, recycle, repurpose. We cant wait to restock it with all of our equipment, gin stocks, packing materials and bottles. And there will still be space for our mini tractor, bikes and Saint Amans garden equipment. Thirty work!
